DCS puts the color in cast stone.
Cast stone—with strength that can exceed that of the natural product—is a beautiful and durable material. Control of the color palette is one of the reasons that architects specify cast stone instead of natural stone.
DCS is a leader in the cast stone industry. We help manufacturers of cast stone get color right. In fact, DCS supplied the color for nearly half of the winners of the 2019 Cast Stone Institute Design Awards.
Cast stone producers can choose from our wide range of basic pigment options—bulk dry pigment, 50-pound bags, or custom weight small bags. Some choose DCS liquid pigment — either using our liquid base color system in conjunction with our liquid color dispensing system — or in one of our convenient liquid container sizes. Check out our Products & Services page to learn more.
Our strict quality control program ensures that the pigment you receive will be the same time after time. Whether you’re producing wet cast or dry tamp cast stone, DCS can help you create mix designs that are easily repeatable and consistent.
“We’ve been working with DCS since the 1980s. They are a fantastic, reliable partner. In our business, you can find yourself in situations where you need pigment right away, and DCS has always come through for us. A couple of years back, I got to visit their plant, and I personally walked around and shook hands with all of the employees and thanked them for the great job they have been doing for us over the years. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend them to any company involved with cast stone, concrete or construction that needs color.”

Award-Winning Cast Stone Projects Using DCS Color
DCS color was used in six out of eight winners of the Cast Stone Institute’s 2020 Awards of Excellence. In the Manufacturing Excellence Awards, both winners that featured color were created with DCS pigment.
Fenwick Hall, The Athenaeum of Ohio
DCS Customer: Great Lakes Cast Stone, Girard, PA
Judges noted that new construction had to match the old building from 1920 with seamless integration of the design elements. “The columns and arches were very successful as were the entrance ways which were particularly well done. The intricate cornice is a very nice touch as well.”
Florence Middle School
DCS Customer: Bassco Cast Stone, Elkmont, AL
Judges noted that the entry pediments are scaled properly, and the columns are well executed. “This is an effective use of well-executed and designed cast stone.”
Fort Worth Dickies Arena
DCS Customer: Advanced Architectural Stone, Fort Worth, TX
This project—with 65,000 cubic feet of cast stone and a total of 28,500 pieces—won three separate awards: Unique Architectural Feature, Hardscapes and the Architect’s Choice Award. Judges said the overall design of this project made it a real standout. “This is a huge building but the cast stone helps to break down the scale to an appropriate and excellent level."
Roanoke City Hall
DCS Customer: Advanced Architectural Stone, Fort Worth, TX
Judges noted that "the grand entry with its columns, balustrade, dentil work, city seal, as well as the intricate parapet coping throughout was very impressive and a prime example of how cast stone can beautify what would otherwise be a very simple building. With three colors being used and on a tight time frame, that increases the degree of difficulty for a manufacturer, and really made for a captivating look.”
St. Joseph’s Seminary
DCS Customer: Cast Stone Systems, Warrenton, NC
In this Manufacturing Award Winner, judges cited the project's excellent color consistency. “The window surrounds and the breezeway stones are very intricate and have great color consistency. The stones on the gables are very hard to manufacture with their three-dimensional shapes.”
Texas A&M University Center for Infrastructure Medallion
DCS Customer: Christopher Stuart Cast Stone, San Antonio, TX
Judges called the medallion on this project one of the best they had ever seen. “The intricacy, detail, and texture were impressive. The fact that the medallion is in a 14-foot circle in several pieces that match perfectly is quite unique.”
