Our business is family owned, with 100-plus years of experience.
DCS Inc. manufactures a full range of iron oxide pigments used all over the world to color concrete and masonry products, and we specialize in the architectural precast concrete industry.
Based in Southeastern Wisconsin, DCS is a fourth-generation family business, and our success is based on dedication to customer service.
We start with the finest iron oxide and other minerals to produce vibrant, consistent pigments for concrete products ranging from precast concrete to manufactured stone veneer, cast stone, and more. While high-quality raw materials are the foundation of our products and services, our people are what set us apart. The average DCS employee has a tenure of 16 years.
Whether you’re selecting from our palette of more than 4,000 standard colors or you need to match the existing color on a project, DCS cares. We’ve helped many of our customers develop special proprietary colors for their product lines, and can help your company more efficiently integrate color into the production process.
When you buy from DCS, you get more than just pigment. You get dedication to customer service and the technical and production expertise of a team that has been in the game for many years—and will be there for many more to come.
Our History
Founded in 1890, DCS was originally known as Ricketson Mineral Color Works. At that time, Ricketson’s iron oxide pigments were used mostly for barn paint and snow fence preservative.
In 1965, Ricketson fell on hard times and its largest customer, Delta Oil Products, purchased the company out of bankruptcy and renamed it Delta Color & Supply Co.
In 1976, James F. Crawford Sr., one of the owners of Delta Oil Products, purchased the color division and named it DCS Color & Supply Co., Inc.
James’ son Jim was already working in the plant while attending college, and Jim joined DCS full time after graduation.
In 1984, James Sr.’s daughter, Cathy Higgins, joined DCS in sales and marketing and ultimately became vice president of sales and marketing.
In 1990, Jim Crawford became president of the company.
In 1995, Jim and Cathy renamed the company Dynamic Color Solutions, Inc.
In 2013, Jim’s son Jimmy joined the company as vice president of development, bringing the third generation of Crawfords into the company.
In 2023, Jimmy stepped into the position of President & CEO.
In 2024, Cathy retired from the business after 40 years of faithful service. Jimmy purchased her interest in the business and renamed the company DCS, Inc.
