Benton Hall at Colgate University

Hamilton, NY

DCS Customer: Southside Precast Products, Buffalo, NY

Designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA), New York, NY, this beautiful addition to the Colgate Campus won the Craftsmanship and Educational/Spiritual category in the 2019 Design Awards. Jurors said the building’s “proportion and color, coupled with a subtle amount of ornateness made this building and precast elements a unanimous winner.” They also praised the well-articulated detailing and “the wonderful reverence of precast relative to natural stone.”

San Antonio, TX

DCS Customer: Redondo Manufacturing, San Antonio, TX

Designed by RVK & Lake Flato, San Antonio, TX, this project won in the Commercial Design category of the APA 2019 Design Awards. Jurors liked “the very clean detailing, subtleness of textures, and control of the medium” -- along with the way that “well-composed and thoughtful use of reveals activated the subtle color variation in the precast.”

Phoenix, AZ

DCS Customer: Advanced Architectural Stone & Mesa Precast, Tempe AZ

This project was recognized as a winner in the Craftsmanship Category. “Clearly, (the project) is an example of exceptional precast,” jurors said, also praising “the crisp clean lines throughout the building.”

The Labyrinth
Lexington, MA

DCS Customer: Northern Design, Loudon, NH

This Garden Labyrinth, designed by landscape architects Shadley Associates, Lexington, MA, was recognized in the Craftsmanship and Trim/Landscape categories. Fifty feet across, the space remains hidden except when viewed from the purposeful access that leads to it, like a hidden gem. Jurors praised the flow and seamless feel. “The concentrically curved precast forms have the wonderful quality of subtly changing in color throughout the day.”
